HHN's Parent to Parent (P2P) Sponsorship program

Concept

After a lifetime of working, raising families and contributing to the progress of our nation in many ways, senior citizens deserve to retire with dignity. Like other Asian countries, Nepal also faces complex demographic structures coupled with many social issues such as gender imbalance, aging, dowry, gender discrimination, caste discrimination and/or untouchability. Dramatic changes in social structures have synergistically affected living conditions of elderly people. The elderly people lack nutritious food, proper medical care, proper and sufficient sleeping space and the means of entertainment. Many seniors are deprived of shelter and health care that is much needed at the crucial phase of life. We cannot ignore diseases that come with the age. Diseases such as dementia, Alzheimer's dementia are still not recognized in our society. The Alzheimer's disease International estimates that there will be 78,000 people with dementia in Nepal in 2015. There is no cure for Alzheimer/Dementia.Elderly with symptom of such disease is considered burden in family and society.

Who can donate ?

HHN's sponsorship program is open to Nepalese individual who want to contribute NRs 500 a month to those seniors who are unfortunate to get same love and care like our parents; seniors those who seek shelter in the old age with no family support. The main objective of this program is to create awareness in our Nepalese Society that we too can make a difference in people's life, in our own surrounding and we need not depend to seek funds from others as always. It's time to make a contribution to help our own society and aid those seniors in need. The P2P program will also conduct different events to meet various other expenses to cover medical and caretaker in the residential care.
